Two Chicks Barn Sale

As I said last week, I got this whatchamacallit at the sale a couple weeks ago. It was sort of locked up and a bit out of line but Doug has since taken it on as his personal project and now is running as smooth as can be. A few people commented on it at the sale, and gave their opinions on its original use. What do you think?

See this needle? I was thinking some sort of sewing machine, but Doug disagreed.

Well, I FINALLY made it back to Crumpton this past week. At first I was really disappointed, just seeing the scarcity of furniture and lack of cool finds. Eventually, though, I was able to find enough to make my trip worthwhile. I had my truck packed, not really full, but at least enough to keep me happy until I make a return trip this week. I will try to make it there every week for the next several, unless the weather is REALLY cold or windy.

Not sure what I was thinking when I bought this podium...maybe I'm gonna take up preachin' or politics? This nice bench with LIME GREEN shelf (or maybe it's just a brace) just needs a good scrubbing.

I think this cool trunk may need more than scrubbing...possibly a good hard sanding and a couple coats of Briwax?

Now on to these AWESOME wood and metal garden chairs. They might not make it to the Barn Sale, because I'm totally redecorating my booth at Goose on the Roof and these sweet chairs fit perfectly with my theme...

Since I have a personal collection of sipping jugs, I always buy them if I see them for a reasonable price. These WILL be at the April sale, because I have similar ones at home already.

I really LOVE these architectural brackets...they look awesome as space fillers on bookshelves, and will really fit into vignettes for spring.

That's about it, except for a few small items, and one that I am saving for a future "what the heck is THIS" post. Check back later!

How do you handle the void when you pack away all of your Christmas decor? I am always a little bit sad to pack everything away, but relieved and glad to start the new year with sparse, neutral shades after all of the decoration overload. I sort of go all out when it comes to decorating for Christmas because I love it and I have ALOT of decorations. I have most of my Moms and her Mom's, so I never use all of them, and like to do something different every year.

So, that brings me to my current dilemma. How do I make it look decorated and finished but serene and wintry? I use colors that match the landscape. I have alot of tan, gray and white. I let the cute birds and mouse that I loved at Christmas stay a little while longer since they fit the color scheme, and just added a bit of muted green here and there. I love candles, so I use them in almost every room. I try to keep things simple and easy to clean, since this is definitely my "work in the shed" time. This time of year, I am able to go to a lot of auctions, and I try to start getting things ready for the spring barn sale as soon as I bring them home so they don't just pile up.

I hope you are having a good week, either transitioning to the sparseness of January, or still enjoying your Christmas decor for a few more days until "Olde Christmas". As for me, the decor is in the attic (even cleaned 1/3 of the attic before I put it back!) and I am settling in for the slower pace of winter. Have a great day!!!

To some of our favorite people in the whole world...our Two Chicks'customers...we just want to take a moment to reflect on this past year(which has been filled with both tears and triumphs) and look ahead to 2012 with hope, love, and anticipation. Each of you are very dear to us...in fact, after each sale we sit and debrief and that includes talking about which customer friends we missed seeing at the sale. We feel very blessed to be able to have a hobby that brings so much love and joy into our lives and you are part of that experience. We hope that you enjoy the barn sales as much as we enjoy preparing them for you.

Now that we are in the new olde barn, our thoughts are just going wild with ideas, enthusiasm, and excitement!!! If you have any suggestions or ideas that you ever wish to share with us, please don't hesitate. We are thinking about doing private barn gatherings, a one day Easter celebration, our normal spring sale (April 26th-28th), and so on... We will continue to keep you posted via facebook and our blog.

Anyway...we are so grateful for the opportunities that have come our way and for the wonderful people that our barn sale business has allowed us to meet. We wish you and yours an extremely happy new year and may God bless you always.

Do you just love these huge pine cones? Their brothers and sisters will be for sale at the barn sale next year!!!

Where do you get the inspiration for your favorite Christmas decorations? I know many of you this year are turning to Pinterest. If you haven't checked it out, you really should. I really can't give a good description of what Pinterest is, but as I understand it, it allows you to create inspiration boards, pinning pictures from all over the Internet to your boards. It's fun to see different interpretations of style. The pictures included in this post are my version of things my daughter, Melissa found on Pinterest. She created beautiful vignettes, I tweaked them to fit the materials I had, and now you see my version. Hope you are having fun with your decorating projects, and getting to the finish line soon! What is it about fresh greenery that really elevates a Christmas vignette just a tad above one with artificial? I'm not sure, but one thing that makes it SSSOOOOO much more attractive to me is the ease with which it tucks into its spot. I guess my thrifty side tells me not to cut store-bought garlands and picks into the size I need, because next time I might need a larger piece. And the real stuff seems to lay just right, wherever you put it. Not to mention, it's free!!! I emptied all the stuffy, English china I inherited from my Godmother (It really is beautiful, but I was ready for a change...it will go back in there one day!) out of my china cabinet the other day. Then I scoured the house for antique kitchen gadgets...they tend to get scattered, used for this display and that...

I filled that empty cabinet (um, amazing how dirty the dishes and cabinet shelves got, considering they were closed in behind glass doors) to the hilt with all things kitchen...

Tucked holly, pine and cedar here and there, and in a flash, it's done!

The Christmas Spirit

How do you get into the Christmas spirit? Try this...have your four favorite nieces over. Plan to decorate the tree...they did a great job by the way, while I cleaned and re-arranged the family room...then decorate gingerbread men. These kits from Michaels are great. Eight naked gingerbread men (don't worry, not anatomically correct!), fondant that you roll out and cut with a knife or cookie cutters (what would make them want to cut out birds to decorate gingerbread men?), icing (pretty tasty, too), and a few decorations like beads and presents. And wow, let the fun begin!

I think they did a great job!

Have fun preparing, how ever you get into the spirit!!!

So, are you all finished decorating for Christmas? I've been working at it, but still have a ways to go. Seems like I start decorating, then realize I need to clean this, rearrange that. I am seriously housecleaning my family room today. Santa brought an early Christmas gift a couple of weeks ago. Since our kids had WAAYYY newer, better TVs than we did, we finally decided to take the plunge. Our old one weighs approx. 500 pounds, I think. It sat in the middle of the floor for awhile, and we finally got help to move it late last week. So now I need to rearrange EVERYTHING...new TV, new set-up, right?
We got the great idea on the last day of the sale that we should have been recording somehow what states people were visiting from. We knew we had some regulars from across the bay, but we really happy to see that we have customers from PA,

And the Empire State, New York...

And of course from Maryland...

We even had a guy from Florida visit the sale! I don't think he came all the way here just for the sale, but ya never know!!! Hope y'all have a great week. Get that Christmas decorating done now, ya hear?

What can I say but THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to our wonderful customers for making our barn sale so WORTH all the work we put into it. We love you! After the mad rush on Thursday evening, we were able to settle in and had a steady stream of shoppers for the entire sale. We have to thank all of you who so willingly donated money to Toys for Tots on Thursday for the Sneak Peek...and also those of you who gave up a $5 bill after Thursday night, just because you wanted to give to the cause. We are going to give them your money, plus all the stockings left over from the sale. Hopefully it well help make some Christmases a little bit merrier.

Keep checking back...we will be posting more pictures from the sale, and as the shopping starts for the spring sale (dates to follow SOON!) we will keep you posted about what to expect to see there. We are already tossing around alot of ideas for spring!

Multitask Much?

The barn sale starts today!!! Need I say more? I guess so. So, yesterday, since the barn was pretty much finished, and it was a rainy day, I planned to spend the day in the house. I love to bake, and was going to take my time, making all sorts of tasty treats for your enjoyment at the sale. Then around 7am, the panic set in. What if we sell out the first night? What if all the cool stuff goes in the first hour...and the rest of the sale is just average, 'cause all the best things are gone? Well, that is simply not going to happen. But, when you are getting ready for one of the most fun events of your whole year, sometimes you just don't think straight.

So, I spent the whole day in the shed. Got three more pieces of furniture ready, plus a few smalls. And, baking time.... sort of disappeared. I was determined to cook a good dinner, since I have been too busy to pay much attention to that task lately. And the rooster specifically asked, um, whats for dinner tonight since you have been home all day. So...I multitask!!! I simultaneously made dinner, chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies, and chocolate dipped pretzels. It was fun, sort of hectic, but reminded me of the days when we had kids in the house. There was always alot going on in those days. Homework, dinner preparations, games and Legos, practice of some sort...piano, dance...it was an awesome time. But before I get all nostalgic, I'm going to sign off. After lunch, I am going to take the few last pieces over (don't worry, Sharon...I will fit them in somewhere), them turn on a couple of small heaters and wait for y'all to get there!!!! YAY!!!!!! A Little Bit

Out of character for us, I know. We have one of the stalls all dressed up in gray, gold, silver, and khaki. With so many individual areas, it was fun to dress them up (or down) in so many different ways. Seriously, this sale has something for everyone!

Don't worry, we still have LOADS of the regular country, primitive stuff we are known for! Oh, and Christmas decorations galore!

Can't wait to see you! The sale starts at 5pm sharp tomorrow evening with Santa's Sneak Peek. We will charge $5 per person, with all proceeds from admission going to Toys For Tots. Friday hours (free admission) are 9am until 9pm. And Saturday (free also) we are open from 9am until 5pm, with a special appearance by Santa from 10 until noon, so bring your camera and your tots!

That's right, the first ever glimpse of the new barn for all our wonderful customers is only 2 1/2 days away! Great time for me to leave my camera at the barn, huh? I will TRY to remember to bring it home tonight. We are really down to the last minor details, and let me tell you, you are going to love it! Tonight we will put up the last of the lights and check the parking lot for dark spots...don't want you to fall when you are RUNNING to the barn!

We continue to make progress...the large area in the front of the downstairs, until last night, looked like this...and we now have it all CLEANED and arranged...can't WAIT for you to see the results of all our efforts. I think Sharon and I have cleaned more in the last month than we had in all our years previous...all for the benefit of the barn sale! Have a good weekend (yup, I know it is only Thursday...but I FINISHED CUTTING SOYBEANS yesterday, so it feels like weekend to me!)...and check back Monday...I will have pics of the weekend tasks, and final touches. A week from tonight, we will open with Santa's Sneak Peek, from 5 until 9. CAN'T WAIT!!!

Things are really progressing...but there is still lots to do! The downstairs rooms are just starting to take shape. But we are so excited for you to see what we have done!!! It will be filled with vintage quilts at the sale, but I have a feeling it won't last long, either. And, if it does happen to still be around when we close the doors on Saturday, I think I know a certain chick who will just take it home for her own house!

Okay, one of the Two Chicks Roosters has suggested that it is time to start being mysterious. To just give you tidbits of what is in store for you on the 17th (or 18th or 19th). So I am giving you a close up, today, of the top of that work table I was telling you about a couple weeks ago. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Better come Thursday night, though, if you want to see it. I have heard from quite a few of you who say you want to be there for the opening night excitement!

We got quite a bit of work done Saturday, even though the weather was really NOT cooperative! The cold rain and wind probably did make us work faster, though, since we spent most of the day sorting through boxes in the trailers. Had to get the little one cleaned out so we can finish getting our treasures from the "pick" last weekend.

I will try to post later in the week, with another tidbit. In the meantime, have a safe and happy Halloween!

Sharon got a call earlier this week asking us if we would like to come check out the contents of a farmhouse that contained 67 years of collecting. OMGOSH!!! We arrived before 10am and didn't leave until after 2pm...tired, dirty, hungry, HAPPY, and with a TOTALLY full truckload of wonderful antiques! AND...we still have to make 1 or 2 more trips BACK to bring home the rest of what we bought!!! IT WAS A FUN DAY AND WE MADE A LIFETIME MEMORY:-) AND...don't you just love these cute little buildings? I really WANT one (or two). A farm really should have little outbuildings, don't ya think?

Let the fun begin!!! Sharon and I spent a good part of today with these fabulous young men (my nephew and two of his friends), unloading the storage trailers. We got ALOT of work done, and we are really revved up to start moving furniture around and start decorating. AND...we have an appointment tomorrow morning to meet a friend of Sharon's to check out some things for sale at her elderly family member's house and shed. I finally got around to decorating the mantle (shelf, really) in my kitchen yesterday. With the cooler temperatures, I am really getting in the mood to do some housecleaning and decorating. You know, nesting. If you are anything like me, the Christmas decorating books are now but a fingertip away, and you are planning where you'll put your tree (s!) and other Christmas finery. That's where the Barn Sale comes in! Be sure to plan spending quite a bit of time with us, as we will have the upstairs AND the downstairs dressed and ready for the season. We have quite a bit of primitive furniture, plus all the usual... painted, Briwaxed, refinished, chippy, you name it!

The sale days and hours are as follows:

Santa's sneak peek...Thursday evening, Nov. 17th from 5-9 There will be a $5 entry fee for the privilege of being among the first to get a glimpse of the new (to us) barn. All proceeds will be donated to Toys For Tots. Don't worry, you WILL be able to make purchases that evening, too...would we let you see and not buy? NO!

Friday the 18th, we will be open from 9 am until 9pm. There is no admission charge on Friday.

Saturday the 19th we will be open from 9am until 5 pm. No charge then, either.

Good Morning, All! Hope you had a wonderful Monday. The weather certainly cooperated, if that plays a part in your equation!

Just wanted to send a couple of pictures your way. Sharon and I were super excited to get some work started at the barn Saturday, so we cleaned out the downstairs rooms in preparation for the electrician. We were hoping the upstairs would be finished, but that wasn't to be. So...this is what things look like upstairs now...think we have some work to do??? I'll be posting pictures of our progress in the coming weeks...hard to believe it's less than a month from day one in our new location! Hope your day is good!

So... what do you think of this ugly table? I can't wait for you to see it all gussied up at the barn sale!

And don't you just love these brown glass jars? They have quite a history...and hopefully a future, as well! I went to an estate sale (my favorite kind...right there on the farm where all of the cool stuff had a home...and a job!)the beginning of September. I was able to get a decent amount of winning bids in before I had to leave. As I was paying, I heard the auctioneer talking about selling the contents of an old chicken house that had been used for storage. It was to be sold as is, and winning bidder would get contents only...no doors, windows, or the awesome trolley cart that had been used to move feed from one end of the house to the other. I went in there and looked around, there was a decent amount of stuff in there, but most of it was JUNK. And a lot of...trash. These people obviously were very frugal, because they saved EVERYTHING! But, I was able to see a couple of old work tables, some buckets, lots of clay pots (they had at one time owned a greenhouse and sold flowers) and a mint green dresser or buffet. There were piles of wood, and some scrap metal, so I thought it was worth leaving a bid, just so it wouldn't go for NOTHING and make me sorry I hadn't been there! So I left a bid, and went on home to get cleaned up.

The next morning during church, the auctioneers wife left a message on my cell phone saying I had the winning bid! Although I was really excited, I also felt kind of apprehensive, since we were in the middle of corn harvest. I knew it would take time to get through all of those piles. But, I just put it on the back burner, and concentrated on the job at hand. One morning before we started work, I was able to get my son, Jason, to help me pick up the things that I thought might be attractive for someone to steal, and figured I would deal with the rest after harvest.

Well, I got a phone call one Wednesday morning from the auctioneer saying that the new owners of the property (it was sold at auction too)would be going to settlement the next weekend and I needed to be finished up by then. With the generous help of Doug and Jason, I did get through most of what looked to be worth something.

And...after that LONG story... that's where I got these cool brown jars! They were on a shelf in the chicken house...dirty but awesome!

As for the tables? I am working on one of them now. It was used, I believe, for cutting and salting meat. There are knife marks everywhere, and some of the wood is really soft from all the salt.

I scrubbed the heck out of it...years and years of dirt, not to mention a lot of animal grease, plus salt!

I am working at getting all of this soft wood sanded off...a slow process, but I have my eye on the prize. I think it is going to turn out really pretty when I get the sanding done and get it all shined up with BriWax.. I WILL have it finished and priced right at the Barn Sale next month...remember...Nov. 17th at 5pm is your first opportunity to check it out!

Oh...and here's that cabinet I gave you a glimpse of the other day. For the life of me, I couldn't get it rotated and posted that day, but for some reason it worked fine today! Have a great weekend!

As I have said before, Sharon and I have met some wonderful people in our travels for this business. This weekend was no exception. We decided at the last minute (when I finished picking corn...yeah!!!) to go over to Gambrills, MD for the fall sale of The Barn Show (http://www.thebarnshow.com/). We had met Gail a couple of times before, but never attended this show. She is a dedicated auction attendee at Crumpton, is involved in a sale in the Frederick area (http://www.chartreuseandco.com/tagsale.html)that we attended in the summer, and has a booth in an antique mall. We also met one of the other Barn Show partners, Pam, who is a decorator by trade. These girls have got it going on, let me tell you.
Their sale is really great...totally different from ours, but great! The beautiful horse barn was decorated to the hilt for fall...mums and pumpkins everywhere, and a real feel for the season. (Didn't hurt that the weather was BEAUTIFUL, either!) They had a wonderful selection of furniture and accessories really READY to put in your house...no work required. The style is a bit different from ours...lots of muted colors, with a French feel, even. Just lovely. We had a great time and plan to get together with these girls soon to trade ideas and share a meal somewhere...love networking with other barn sale gals!

Good Morning! Sharon and I had our first REAL planning meeting last night for the fall barn sale, and boy, are we excited! We checked out the progress in the barn, talked to the electrician (who was there to wire and put up the new lights and fans), dug through ALL our storage areas, and then went to dinner with notebooks in hand to start hammering out the details.
When we got back to Sharon's house, we worked on postcard design, then we mapped out where we are going to put approximately 47 pieces of furniture, two permanent cupboards, and 2 counters for checkout. We are going to be FULL!!! Upstairs and down!
We decided on the hours, and are planning to host a "Santa's Sneak Peek" on Thursday the 17th of November from 5pm until 9pm. We will be charging a $5. admission fee...this is a first for us...and all proceeds from admission will be donated to the Salisbury Toys For Tots program. In 2010, the local Toys for Tots program distributed over 11,000 toys to 5,000 children on the lower eastern shore. Since Christmas is right around the corner, we thought this was a good idea, and it will give eager shoppers a head start at the sale, and you will be the first to view the new old barn in all it's Christmas splendor.
We will be open from 9am until 9pm on Friday the 18th, and from 9am until 5pm on Saturday. There will be no admission charge on those days.
I will be posting often in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back. We are only 6 weeks out, with alot of work to do, but it is so exciting and fun, we are already thinking about the sale ALL THE TIME, and we call or text each other several times a day to bounce ideas off each other. Can you tell we really LOVE this "job"?!?

Hi, All
No, this picture really doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the Barn Sale...I just thought is was pretty...quite the photog, aren't I?!?

Well, yes, we are upon the time of year, the WEEK, actually, that the Barn Sale would have been held. And let me tell you, Sharon and I are REALLY missing it! But that just means that the Country Christmas Customer Appreciation event in the NEW (old) barn will be that much BETTER!!! We are shopping and planning, and before you know it, November 17th will be here. We are planning to start out on a Thursday evening, and continue through Saturday. So, believe me, there are LOTS of awesome surprises in store. And, some really nice FURNITURE, primitives, Christmas decor, all the things that we normally have at our sale, just more of it! And, there will be more space, too...we will be using some of the downstairs, and all of the upstairs in the barn. The floors are almost done so it won't be long before I post a few pictures to spark your interest.

Hi all ~ did you think we were lost?!?!?! Well we aren’t…we have been buying up a storm to prepare for the next Two Chicks Barn Sale. Here’s the deal though…

Brian and Sharon’s son, Nick, graduated from Delmar High School on June 3rd of this year. In order to prepare for his graduation party the BARN was cleaned out TOTALLY of ALL of our cool barn sale treasures. We boxed EVERYTHING up and have stored all of the primitives and antiques and furniture and …. You get the picture…so,…

We are now in the process of getting the ‘new’ old barn across the street fixed up in order to be our permanent barn sale location. We are SOOOOOO excited about this because it is going to look even ‘cooler’ (dumb word we know) than the barn we have been in for the past 5 years. We will have both the upstairs and downstairs to use and it is going to look much more primitive. Our hearts race every time we go over there to discuss the details. Now, to the details….

It looks like the new old barn is not going to be ready in time for a fall sale…BOO!!! It has been so hot and the awesome flooring just came in last week and the electrician is busy and…you get this point too…don’t you?!?! Anyway…we have decided that, instead of throwing together a sale that does not reflect our dreams and ideals, we will now just begin preparing for the BEST and most BEAUTIFUL Christmas Barn Sale we have ever had!!! So…

The buying continues…in fact, you should see the PRIMITIVE furniture we just bought recently…would make a primitive lover salivate…! Even though we are skipping the fall sale due to the barn not being ready, we are VERY motivated and excited about the upcoming Christmas sale (and it won’t be just Christmas stuff…will be all kinds of antiques, primitives, furniture, and more!). The Two Chicks Christmas Barn Sale will be held the weekend before Thanksgiving which makes it November 17th, 18th, and 19th. We are adding Thursday night, Friday and Friday night to this sale. Usually we just do a big one day sale on Saturday but because of skipping the fall one we owe it to you to give you more opportunities to SHOP!

Wow...May 16th was my last post. Instead of boring you with excuses, I will vow to try to do better. I hope you are having a wonderful summer. It is slipping away soooo fast, and things are not disappearing from my list of things to do before summer is over quite as quickly as I had hoped.
I may have mentioned that we are planning a home-made wedding in September. I have picked up a few props at Crumpton that we will be using...a couple of long benches that I painted ivory and scuffed up a bit, and a gorgeous chippy paint mantle that I scrubbed and Briwaxed to use as a backdrop/alter for the ceremony. That piece turned out wonderful and it WILL be for sale after the wedding. My sister-in-law chose blue, purple and lilac for the "bridesmaids" dresses (4 out of 6 of the kids that will make up this precious blended family are girls) and I envision lots of vines and hydrangeas flowing from the mantle. I will be sure to post pictures after the wedding!
Anyway...I hope you are enjoying this last month of summer living. The new barn flooring has been chosen and hopefully I will have pictures of the progress on that soon. Please check back soon for details about the next barn sale!!!

Okay, okay...so I have been AWOL for awhile. I am happy to report that the corn is all planted (no, I don't actually DO that, my son Jason is the one responsible for those STRAIGHT rows you see out there...I am just support staff for that. I help keep him in seed and fertilizer, plus whatever else he might need) and the early beans are in. My big ASPARAGUS project is almost over...I will probably be cutting (everyday, almost an acre!!!) for about another week, then I will be home free on that!
Sharon has just been through a few AWFUL days at school (seems to happen at the end of the school year, doesn't it?) and we are ready for an adventure!!!
So...I'm here to announce that TWO CHICKS BARN SALE IS GOING ON THE ROAD!!! What, exactly does this mean, you ask? We have decided to participate in an awesome project that Debbie and Mark, over at Scarborough Fair (check them out at http://www.sfaironline.com/ )are working on. What is it, you may ask? A FAIR at SCARBOROUGH FAIR! Yes, the weekend of May 27th and 28th (that's Memorial Day Weekend) they are adding a whole bunch of cool stuff to their already awesome property. The Amish will be there with a chicken barbecue and some really yummy bread, and vendors (like us!) will be setting up their lovely wares for sale in the parking lot. They are planning yard sales, antique vendors, food and loads of FUN! Sharon and I are excited about this project, kind of like taking our little "store" on the road, and we hope you will come out for a visit! We will have a little sample of all our cool wares right there in the parking lot of Scarborough Fair...garden items, primitives, a lot of RED and WHITE plus a little bit of blue to celebrate Memorial Day, and some really good deals (cause it's a lot of work to haul all that stuff there, but it's even MORE work to haul it all home!) I'll write more later...gotta go see what's going into the trailer for this new adventure! Check back later!

PLENTY of times, my husband has told me I am crazy. The time he came home and found me perched on a window sill in a stair well washing a really really high window? "Crazy...my wife is really, truly crazy". I tried to explain to him that that is really the only way to get to that particular window. The ladder wouldn't reach, so I climbed from the ladder to the window sill and held on tight while I washed. I'm vertically challenged, and he's 6'5"...he doesn't understand! I am a determined woman, and I like clean windows.

Well, maybe crazy, determined women like to surround themselves with crazy, determined women. When Sharon and I first started laying things out for this barn sale, we talked about a clothesline to hold the 40 plus vintage aprons that she had purchased and still needed to iron. We preceded to FILL the barn to it's usual capacity, while she worked at night, after ball games, work, and all the other crazy busy things we seem to get into, ironing those aprons. Finally, yesterday, Sharon brought the aprons out...we are getting REALLY close to April 15th and 16th, you know!

We looked at the aprons, looked at the ball of string for a clothesline, and looked at the rafters we had to string the clothesline through. We looked at each other. Ugh, maybe we should have done this before we piled everything up...ya think? Duh...

So...determined women that Sharon and I are, we made a plan...climb on the bench, then up on the table, and drop the line through the joints in the rafters. Pin the aprons on the line, then proceed to the next section of rafters, and the next bench/table. This worked fairly well (although there were a few times when the table tipped a little bit, almost flipping us off) for most of the clothesline. Except, when we got to the end, the table just didn't put Sharon up there high enough. So, what does this determined barn sale chick do? Stand on the chair that is on the table and LASSO the board we needed to reach!!! I wish the pictures really captured the moment...it was hilarious!!!

The result, dear folks, is just stunning...a whole string of vintage aprons, for your viewing (and purchasing) pleasure!!! SEE YOU THIS FRIDAY OR SATURDAY...APRIL 15TH AND 16TH!!! OUR HOURS ARE 9AM UNTIL 5PM, BOTH DAYS. WE CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU TO SEE ALL WE HAVE IN STORE FOR YOU!!!

Happy Monday morning, all! Hope you had a good weekend, restful for those that needed it, full of activity and fun for the rest of you! Sharon and I worked on Saturday in the barn, and Kelly came over to take some pictures for our facebook page. So...if you are on facebook, check them out! We are not done yet, but we are getting close!

Don't know if I have mentioned it here before, but Sharon purchased 40 plus vintage aprons over the winter, and spent some time yesterday ironing and starching them. Can't wait for you to see them, but I want to save a few surprises for you!

The sale is coming up in about a week and a half, so I hope you are ready! For all you die-hard fans that fill the deck before we open, I'll set the coffee pot out there this time so you can enjoy a cup of joe while you wait. We love to see each and every one of you! The hours are the same for both days...9am until 5pm, April 15th and 16th. Can't wait!!!

Sorry...I've been absent all week. Not going to give any excuse except that it has been a busy one. Sharon and I did get a chance to work in the barn on Monday night, and I also went over for a couple of hours yesterday. Since the weather was so glum, I was not able to do any farming and I thought I might as well play in the barn for awhile!
It's coming along, but I did send Sharon a text last night that she needs to work her magic on the big display right up front...I'm not that happy with it and she always has the right touch! We make a really good team because we start out arranging the furniture together, bouncing ideas off each other and changing things up as we go. Then, I usually start a display, and she comes after me and layers on the PRETTY just right. She has such a talent for layering so that even after the initial rush on the first morning, it looks nice and only needs minor tweeking to stay attractive. She also has a talent for positioning the last few pieces that I walk around with looking for just the right spot.
Oh, and I suppose you want an explanation for the pictures...I got these feed bags at the mud sale and they have been in the shed, waiting for a thorough washing...I finally got around to that task this week and there they are, hanging on the line, waiting for just the right project. Do you SEW? I'd love to use the peanut bag for something but my sewing machine died...and I hate sewing anyway. I've seen feed/seed bags used for pillows, chair upholstery, and purses. Have any other ideas? I'd love to hear them! But these bags, and probably several more, will probably be for sale, since I have no sewing machine! (Or sewing talent!!!) Have a great weekend!

Today, I bring you few words but a cool picture from a recent buying trip. Would love to say I bought several of these floats, but the price was really too high for me to be able to re-sell them. That didn't stop me from taking a picture, though. The mere quantity of them made them look really awesome, don't you think? Hello, Friends! And HAPPY SPRING! Yes the weather has been a little bit fickle, but I sure am glad to see some warm days, anyway! Just wanted to give you an update on Barn Sale progress (and send a picture or two your way, you know!). We had a really busy, trying day on Saturday. The barn is sooo full of furniture, we didn't know where to start. But...we talked a little bit about our vision for this fast approaching spring sale, and decided that we just needed to dive in!

Sharon wasn't feeling well, but we plugged on, and I have to say, it's really coming along. We got all of the large and medium furniture placed, and now the fun part begins. We have loads of pretty accessories to add, and can't wait to get out there again to begin the transformation. I will try to remember to take some before and after pictures when we work in there this weekend. Hope you all have a great week...check back soon! Oh, and by the way...the cradle shown above came from the mud sale, and is signed and dated on the bottom by the builder. A great piece to really use, or decorate with!

Doug and I were reminded yesterday that you really do meet the NICEST people in this business! We were headed down to Taylors Island to do some work on his boat, (she had wintered over there and will be back on the water soon) and passed a sweet antique shop near Church Creek called The Blackwater Trading Company. We had been there before and I remembered a sweet little pastel dresser that I couldn't buy that day because we were in the car. I had intended to return, and you know how that goes! I got busy and never got back. But I did remember it as a pleasant experience, so I talked Doug into turning around for a quick visit.

As it turns out, the owners, Thomas and Jane Phillips we there, and they had been dealers at one time in Goose on the Roof. I still have a booth there, and it's where I met Sharon, my wonderful barn sale partner! We chatted for awhile, about being in the antiques business, and eventually got around to Jane saying......"I read your blog"!!! Her friend Becky comes to the sale, and found us online. I sometimes wonder if there is ANYONE out there, reading, and I was ecstatic to hear that bit of news!

Jane also mentioned that a couple of other dealers often stop by on their way to Hoopers Island to look for beach glass (which is a favorite hobby of mine) so I talked Doug into a ride down there, too. And, I think we must have stumbled on the old town dump. Because, as you can see from this picture, we found the ultimate spot for beach glass hunting! We had had that storm last week and the tide was pretty low, so I am thinking this may have been the once in a lifetime beach glass hunt I've been waiting for. I will definitely make another trip, but I really don't expect another beach glass palooza like that for awhile!

Anyway...thank you Thomas and Jane. We really enjoyed your shop, the delightful hospitality, and the beach glass tip! Any by the way, Blackwater Trading Company will be having a huge yard sale sometime in May that I definitely will attend, Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise! When I find out when it is going to be, I will let you know. Their prices in the store are good (I bought 4 or 5 small items) and I can't wait to see all the treasures at the yard sale!

Wanna see something CUTE? Sharon and I went on a buying trip this past Saturday to PA for a few antiques, and mainly QUITE a few small, new decorative things to spruce up our happy little barn. The wholesale place we most often frequent had LOADS of springy, bright and colorful accessories that we just couldn't resist. Among them, this sweet rain boot planter...I got one in each of the 4 colors they offered, and Sharon got adorable bird planters in each of the 4 colors, too. Can't wait for you to see them!I'll be back soon with more antiques...lots of things going on in these parts! Do you just love fabric? If so, this springs barn sale is the place for you. We had already planned to have a clothesline and "laundry area" like we did a couple of years ago, because Sharon has 40!!! yes, I said 40 vintage aprons for sale. So, when I spotted a huge box of pretty vintage fabric at the auction Wednesday, I bid...and got it! Let me tell you...it is a lot of fabric... some of it will be priced as low as $1 a piece, and most of them are over two yards. How about THAT for a deal? Some of it is upholstery grade, too. Love it! Like these pretty partners?

Well hello, lovely blog friends! I am back today with the fruits of my labor from an auction Doug and I attended on Saturday. First I must express my appreciation for his willingness to drive (at 5 am no less) all the way to Strasburg PA on short notice to indulge my hobby/business whims and help me out with the packing of the truck...we came home filled to the brim as always...and all of the heavy lifting that is a part of this crazy business! I was really apprehensive about heading up to the FIRST mud sale of the year, figuring there would be sooo many people out and about that there would be NO bargains. And while they certainly weren't GIVING things away, I do feel like we came away from there with some really nice things at reasonable prices. I will be back later in the week with more pictures, but for now I will leave you with... Two more sweet pictures...

Good morning, all. I thought you might like to see a few pictures of my haul at the auction this week. As always, I had a fun day. It was a little colder than I expected, but the sun was shining. The crowd there was huge...I think everyone was so happy to have nicer weather, they came out of the woodwork! So, the bargains were a little harder to come by...I walked away from things that I planned on getting more than once simply because the prices went too high. The good news is, I did come away with quite a few things.
I am really starting to get a nice little pile in my shed of things that need to be loaded up and taken over to the barn. They have already been painted/refinished/repaired and are just sitting there under blankets waiting. Sharon and Brian have a trip to PA planned for one of the fabulous mud sales in the near future, plus Sharon has been accumulating smalls at her local haunts.

Okay, I am back AGAIN...I'm really on a roll, huh? I just wanted to relate a quick little story that seems so amazing to me! You see this lovely saddle stand? Well, I picked it up in one of my favorite stores in Adamstown, PA a while ago. I was excited to get it all cleaned up for an upcoming Barn Sale when I saw it, and was not surprised AT ALL when it sold within the first few minutes of the sale. My friend Terri from Goose on the Roof Antiques saw it as soon as she came in and fell in love with it right away. She purchased it and took it immediately to the store, to use as a display piece until someone else just had to have it.

But the story doesn't end there. So many of my antique dealer friends comment that we all just seem to trade our pieces around...the same awesome piece of furniture will just keep turning up, until finally some homeowner, some final owner, falls in love, too.

The story continues...I was in Ocean View, Delaware a couple of weeks ago, and wanted to stop by to see the girls at Hudson's General Store. Except, they were still closed for their much needed winter break. Imagine my surprise when not only did they answer the knock on their back door (they were there getting ready for the spring season...unpacking boxes of awesome new stuff), but invited us to come in for a look! And, low and behold, that saddle stand was right there, on display for spring! It looks lovely, still, and I wonder what dealer will get it next!

I'm back again as promised, with a few pictures from my haul at the auction yesterday. I'm sorry, my photography skills leave ALOT to be desired. You'd never know my daughter is a professional photographer, would you. I can attribute my skills to my late grandmother, who was known for throwing a camera out the front door with a few choice words after many failed attempts one Christmas morning. She was also widely known for chopping the subjects heads off on many occasions. No, not literally, just in the picture. She blamed it on her short stature.

Anyway...I did have a good day at Crumpton. Nothing big, but quite a few smalls. A pretty nice set of outdoor furniture, still can't decide if I should paint it. Your comments are welcome! What would you think about lime green?

I was also happy to get those quilts. They are not in perfect condition, but pretty nonetheless.

Well hello, spring! No, not really. That's just wishful thinking. But let me tell you...when I spotted this cute silverplate coffee pot at Goodwill the other day, I just KNEW I would find a bunch of tulips in the grocery store...it is that time of year when you can spot them in the stores, even if they are still way below the surface in my yard. I am especially looking forward to tulip time this year as I planted 100 new RED bulbs in a rather small area, hopefully for a big wow when you walk out the back door.

I went to Crumpton today, and as soon as I get the truck unloaded, I promise to post a few pictures. I was so cold when I got home I just wanted to be inside for awhile. The thermometer inside the truck read 31 degrees in the middle of the day when I got in to come home. At least the wind died down from yesterday.

Well hello out there, blog readers! It has been a cold winter thus far and the auction going has been slow to say the least. I am happy to report, though, that we have managed to aquire a few things, and we are getting ready to really get geared up to shop! Patti went to Crumpton this week (what a beautiful day Wednesday was!) and came back with a few really cool pieces...nothing big, but certainly SOMETHING noteworthy, at least.

Sharon has been hitting her favorite haunts regularly (a little easier, since they are indoors!) and is starting to accumulate a nice stash. We will both be hitting a trade show in the near future, and soon the MUD SALES in PA will be starting.

What I am trying to say, then, is spring really is around the corner, and that means the barn sale is on our minds! The dates for our spring sale are April 15th and 16th. Before you know it, the weather will be warmer, and we will start to see the first signs...a crocus peeking through the snow, then the first tractors in the field...getting ready to plant those early peas...yum! The barn is already packed with goodies and Patti and Sharon will be working hard to make it picture perfect.

TWO WEEKS FROM FRIDAY...

The really hard work is officially done, folks. The furniture is all in place, now the really fun part begins. We have started pulling out the smalls, and the decorating frenzy has commenced! We have lots of boxes, bags, and piles of really awesome smalls.

But..the really important announcement that I have to make today is not about what is in the barn, it is about what will be at the barn...outside. MILLIE'S ROAD HOUSE has agreed to bring their catering trailer to our sale on Saturday. They will be there from 8am until 2pm, and sell breakfast, as well as lunch...hamburgers, hot dogs, and yes, CRAB CAKES, single fried oysters, clam baskets, THE WORKS!!! We're so glad they are coming, and hope you will plan your visit (well, maybe your second visit?!?) during the time that they will be there.

Also on Saturday, "ONE OF A KIND FLORALS" will be selling their floral arrangements in unique containers. We also have a couple of girls setting up yard sales, so it will be a regular PARTY!!!

Our hours for FRIDAY, April 16th are 9am until 5pm. SATURDAY, April 17th we will be open from 8am until 4pm. It's sure to be a great time, so plan to come on out!!!

And one last thing...in that top picture, I have given you a tiny taste of the corner cabinet that Sharon painted an awesome shade of mustard the other day...see it peaking out from behind the grain bin? Can't wait for you to see it in person!

Well, we got a REALLY good start last night, moving things around, deciding where to put the MASSIVE amount of furniture we have somehow managed to gather, and just chatting about what the next barn sale will bring. We really do have some good pieces. As you can see, we started out with a big mess...a jumble of boxes, bags and pieces of furniture.

We are no where near finished, even arranging the furniture, but I will tell you this...if you are in the market for a bench...a garden bench, an end table bench, a porch bench, a bench to sit on, put your feet on, a time out bench...you are in luck. We have a lovely church pew, a REALLY long primitive bench, two nice garden benches and oh-so-many more. Apparently we are in the bench business!

We also have quite a few cabinets...hutch type, with doors and without, painted, primitive, you name it. Sharon had a great weekend with her oh so supportive husband (who surprised her with an enclosed trailer perfect for antique hunting right before the trip!) and they found quite a bit of awesome furniture.

While on that subject, I have to share that this venture would not be possible without the help of our wonderful families. Both Sharon and I have husbands who willingly spend weekends searching for antiques. We also have sons and a daughter who will pitch in when we need them, and bring their wives, girlfriend, and husband, too! Some of them enjoy auctions, some of them help with the lifting and moving, and all of them support us in what we do.

Made a quick trip to Crumpton Auction today. It was loads of fun, as always, and while I didn't get anything really significant, I was happy to get lots of small things. And, since I have vowed to post more often, I wanted to give you a taste of what's to come (to the barn sale, of course!!!).

Yes, SPRING is right around the corner, and we are soooooo glad!!! It has been sort of a slow winter in the antiques business, and we are REALLY happy that the barn sale is coming up soon! My shed is a MESS, I have lots of things ready...painted, cleaned, repaired or refinished, and ready for the trip to Delmar!

Sharon went to a good auction this past Friday, and is planning a trip to PA this weekend.

And without further ado...the dates are... Friday, April 16th from 9-5 and Saturday, April 17th from 8-4. I will post more pics later, but I thought I should give you a glimpse of the pile of cool stuff in my shed...and start the guessing as to what might be under the sheets and blankets!!! Check back soon for some clues...

Just wanted you to get a glimpse of what we will have at the upcoming TWO CHICKS COUNTRY CHRISTMAS CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY sale on the 21st of THIS MONTH! Yes, folks, November is here! Can you believe it? Seems like only yesterday we were preparing for the SPRING sale, and here we are, getting ready for Christmas! It really has been a great year, and as a way of showing our appreciation, we love having you as our guests for lunch, or just coffee and cookies, but most of all, catching up on what's going on with YOU!

We worked for quite awhile this weekend on arranging furniture, and still have several more pieces to come upstairs. Hopefully by this time next week, all of the furniture will be in place, and we will be pulling everything we have been gathering out of the bins and boxes in which they are stored. That's the fun part! And, before too long, we will be decorating the tree, too. Can't wait for you to see all we have in store for you!

Oh, and stay tuned...next time, I will show you pics of the awesome barnwood and beadboard cabinets from PA!

Since I usually give you pictures of THINGS (you know, things we are either getting ready to sell or things we just sold!), I thought I'd give you, in this post, a picture of people! I really just want you to get an idea of the kind of wonderful customers, FANS, really, that we have! These three awesome ladies have been coming to our barn sales for quite a while, and not only are they great customers, we've become friends! And, they take a vacation day for the sale, so they can always come on Friday to get the best selection!

We have met so many wonderful people since we started this endeavor you really wouldn't believe it. We have many repeat customers, and love to catch up with them during the sales. Last year, for the first time, we hosted a Country Christmas Customer Appreciation Day event, and we are doing the same this year. The date is November 21, the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and the time is from 8am until 6pm. This is a one day only sale, and we will be serving lunch (on the house!) from around 11 until 1. We will also, as always, have snacks...cookies, cake, coffee, etc., available all day. Looking forward to seeing you all there! Check back next week for pics of the barn taking shape with lots of new (not NEW, just new to us!)furniture. We started moving things up there last night, and it is going to be AWESOME!!!

Well, good day blog followers! I am so glad you decided to stop by...the BARN SALE is coming up SOOONN!!! Sharon and I are as busy as bees...the furniture is all arranged, and we are adding LOTS of smalls now. We'll be putting the final touches on in about a week, and the sale is NEXT Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19th. We'll be open from 9 til 5, both days...makes it less confusing, don't you think?
The pics included in today's post are two pieces of furniture from that auction awhile back. The PAIN of that trip is long forgotten, and we have only fond memories of it now. Can't WAIT for you to see all of the cool furniture we got that day! See you soon!

Okay, I'm just a BAD BLOGGER!! I get so busy with, well, LIFE, you know, that I forget to blog. What can I say...I'm an active girl! And sitting in front of a computer is like torture to me! But, I just HAD to tell you about our latest adventure! Sharon and I went to an auction a couple of weeks ago in Littlestown, PA. Not far from Gettysburg, it was an easy 2 3/4 hour drive, and we were hoping to at least each get one piece of furniture. We went in a short bed pickup, left at 5am, and made it there with plenty of time to browse around and check out the great furniture.

The sale was advertised as an estate sale, but this was no ordinary estate. The elderly man had owned an antique store. So, his collection was extensive. And, we learned that a Philadelphia auction house had already hauled away the "good stuff" for a catalog auction. But, we were VERY happy with what was left!

It was a long, hot day, but we had a GREAT time, and ended up with 21 pieces of furniture!! Needless to say, we planned a trip for the next day.

Sunday, we waited until 7 to leave...you know, slept in!!! We went with the same short bed pickup, and a bigger truck, hoping to collect all of our treasures. We CAREFULLY loaded them piece by piece, putting blankets and straps wherever we thought we needed them. Well, we STILL didn't get it all, so we planned another trip for later in the week. No big deal, really, since the drive wasn't all that bad, and we were sure we could get the rest in one truck.

I say no big deal, because at the time, that's how it seemed. Well, that was before we took a wrong turn that took us into WORSE traffic on a Sunday afternoon (and 20 miles or so out of the way), and then had a truck breakdown at the WaWa just west of the Bay Bridge!!!

So all of the furniture on the bigger truck (of course) had to be unloaded and reloaded onto the truck and trailer that my DEAR husband brought up to rescue us! And, the truck spent two nights at WaWa, waiting for a tow truck to bring it home!

The final chapter of this LONG story was a trip up on Thursday to get the last of the furniture. That trip, thankfully, was uneventful!

In the end, we were still REALLY blown away by the bargains we got. Can't WAIT for the fall barn sale, September 18th and 19th!! YOU WILL LOVE THIS STUFF!!

What a GREAT auction!!! Between the two of us, we bought 21!!! pieces of furniture!!

Yes folks, summer is here, Sharon is finished with school for a few months, and my wheat and barley harvest is finished. Do you know what that means??? We are ready to plan the FALL BARN SALE! The dates have been set...SEPTEMBER 18th and 19th. And, we are ready to shop! We made our first big shopping excursion last week, and are ready to really get going, finding the awesome bargains for you. In the coming weeks, we will be shopping, cleaning, painting and repairing, taking pictures of our great finds along the way. Check back soon, we'll be posting more often now that we are in barn sale mode!!

If you didn't make it to our Barn Sale last weekend, we are SORRY you missed all the fun! If you WERE there, we want to THANK YOU for your support, excitement, and complements. We truly have a WONDERFUL time preparing for these sales. It does take a lot of hard work, but you make it all worth while.

A special thanks to all of the antiques dealers who come as soon as we open, and get us rolling. We try to keep our prices low enough that you can make a profit, too, and we really appreciate all you do for us...word of mouth advertisement is the best kind!

Oh what a difference 10 (9, actually!) days makes!! Since my last post we have started moving furniture around, and we are getting EXCITED about APRIL 3rd and 4th! Right now, the barn is in a mad state of disarray, but that will be changing very soon! We plan to work up there all day Saturday, and expect things to really be taking shape by the end of the day. In the meantime, we are buying, cleaning, and painting. OH and, potting up some beautiful pansies in enamelware and old cookware.

Sharon went to PA last weekend and came home with a beautiful oak bakers cabinet. Wait 'til you see it!

Yes, believe it or not, the Barn Sale is less than a month away! The deck doesn't really look ready yet, but don't fret! We really are working on some awesome pieces for our APRIL 3rd and APRIL 4th sale (don't forget, Friday and Saturday only). And!!! wait until you see our cute postcards! They arrived in the mail yesterday, and they will be arriving in your mailbox about two weeks before the sale. Having just realized that the Sunday we had planned for the third day of our spring barn sale is PALM SUNDAY, we have decided to omit that date from our sale. Okay, folks, the real work has begun!!! The weather was sooo beautiful this past weekend that I got out and worked outside...sorting, scrubbing, sanding, you name it! And, I wanted to show off the BEAUTIFUL salmon colored cabinet I found in PA. And yes, those are strawberry crates, and I even have dividers and strawberry boxes to put in them. The string winder is really a cool piece, too. It came from a country store auction on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Keep checking back, there is still a whole pile of awesome stuff in the shed, not to mention Sharons stash!!! P

We have both been busy and finally got together this week for a meeting (and a little shopping!) to set the dates and times. So...with no further ado.. Okay, this post really has little to do with the Barn Sale, I am really just giving an excuse and asking forgiveness for my recent lack of information about our sales. But...I wanted to share the reason I have been so busy, and show off a picture of my beautiful daughter who became a Mrs. on January 3rd. No, these weren't taken at THE barn, but a wonderful barn in the Hurlock area.

Now...about our next barn sale...we are in the planning stages...will be having a meeting next week...and will post dates as soon as we have them. It will most likely be in April, in hopes of avoiding the COLD weather we had last year for our spring barn sale. We HAVE had some luck with shopping, I went to 2 really good auctions early in December (one was a country store auction, so look for THOSE cool items at the spring barn sale!!!), and Sharon contines to frequent Delmar auction and O'Neils. Now that things have calmed down at the Scott household, I will be shopping ALOT, Crumpton, here I come!!! So...check back soon for dates and pictures of our SPRING BARN SALE!!!

Two Chicks Barn Sale mourns the loss of an important member of our barn sale family. Mr. Bill Collins, 76 of Mardela Springs, was the father of Sharon, and had done many furniture repairs over the last several years. Mr. Collins, known by many as MePop, passed away suddenly early Tuesday morning, Sept. 16. As one of his grandsons spoke at his funeral, MePop was a superhero, and superheros aren't supposed to die. MePop will be greatly missed.

Hello:-) We are glad that you chose to take a moment to browse our Two Chicks Barn Sale blog. WE ARE SOOOOOO EXCITED!!! We have been working all summer long getting ready for our Barn Sale #5!

We have sweated in 95 degree heat at auctions trying to find just the 'right' goodies to bring back...for you! We have taken buying trips to Pennsylvania to bring back awesome finds...for you! We have bought, cleaned, inventoried, priced, painted, decorated items, and LOWERED prices...for you!

We have lugged and tugged those great pieces alllllll the way up those steps to the top floor of the barn (don't worry though...we will still have our bargain basement)...for you! We have spent hours planning, preparing, arranging furniture, decorating, etc....for you...oh yeah, did we tell you how hot the barn has been this summer...so, once again, we have been sweating...for you:-)

We get MORE EXCITED every time that we go upstairs in the barn to work because we get to see all of the marvelous antiques, primitives, furniture, autumn decorations, etc. coming together to, hopefully, enchant and surprise our customers and friends.

Come visit us on Sept. 19, 20, and/or 21 and enjoy a leisurely shopping adventure in the olde barn. Once again we will have free refreshments AND two of the booths will be filled with chinese auction items...fun, fun, fun!! Treat yourself and feel free to bring as many friends as you want.

So far... twice a year... spring and fall

are the Two Chicks? We are two ladies who both work at full time jobs but have a passion for auctions and antiques! Patti Scott is a full time farmer and Sharon Cooper is an administrator in a local middle/high school. We have been antique dealers in local consignment malls for several years.

Why...

do we have these barn sales? Because we love auctions and can't keep all of the awesome treasures that we buy for ourselves... we don't have that much room in our homes. We love to decorate and enjoy the challenge of turning the old barn into a uniquely different store for each barn sale... and last but not least... we have FUN!

How...

do we make it happen? Its a lot of hard work but we LOVE it! We shop and shop and then shop some more! Then we bring our goodies home and clean, fix, paint, inventory, price and eventually display in the old barn.
